Game 1
Bombers 5 | East Cobb Astros 3


The 12U Bombers started the 2009 tourney ball campaign in the USSSA Southeastern Wood Bat Championships in Cumming, GA. The team was the only AAA squad in with a group of Majors teams (the highest USSSA classification) and came out ready to play against the toughest classification as they beat the East Cobb Astros 5-3, in the first game of pool play, behind stellar pitching and a smothering defense. It was a big win against a strong travel team.




The second game of pool play saw the Bombers fall to the Sevier County (TN) Bears 8-3. The Bears brought a hefty 41-10 record against the 1-0 Bombers. The first game of the tourney play pitted the Bombers against cross town foes, the NYO Titans. NYO took the game 9-2. The Bombers were slated to play the AAA champion from the South Division, but a rainy weekend kept the crossover championship from happening. The 1-2 record did not reflect the strong play of the team, and the confidence gained in this weekend should bode well for this upcoming weekend's USSSA Substate Tournament in Stockbridge.
