The 12U DHYS Bombers will begin their 2009 Summer
season Memorial Day weekend, participating in the
USSSA NIT Southeastern Wood Bat Championship in
Cumming, Georgia. Some of the teams we will face
will be the East Cobb Astros, the NYO Titans and
the Sevier County Bears. It should be an early test
of this talented Bomber Squad. Following the Wood
Bat Tournament, the Bombers play in Ellenwood, Georgia
in a USSSA Substate Tournament. This is a USSSA
State qualifying tournament and will be our entré
into the USSSA State Finals in late June.
June
The month of June starts off with one of our favorites
-- The Larry Hutson Invitational at Shaw Park. This
Dizzy Dean event (starting June 4th) offers a good
mix of teams, a familiar setting and, as Coach Eric
always mentions, the best darn concession stand
in Cobb County! After Shaw Park, we head to Woodstock
for the Showdown @ Hobgood. This is a Pre-District
All Star event to hopefully get us ready for the
Dizzy Dean District Tournament. That starts June
10th at Chastain Park. (there might be concession
stand challenge brewing here.) After Chastain, if
we have qualified, we will enter the USSSA State
Championships in Cumming on June 26th.
July
The month of July will be less hectic, but very
memorable none the less. If we do well in the Dizzy
Dean Districts, we will play for the DD State Championship
in Ringgold, Georgia. After that, we have an open
week that could be used for more fundraising, another
quick tournament, some scrimmages, or just relaxation.
The next week (July 17-24) is the Cooperstown trip
and the Bombers will need some time to pack and
make last minute arrangements. This will cap off
a great Summer Season for all!

Take I-75 North to I-575 - Exit 268
Take I-575 North to Exit 8 - Towne Lake Parkway Exit
Turn Left at the bottom of the off ramp onto Towne Lake Parkway
Go approximately 1.5 miles and veer off to the right remaining
on Towne Lake Parkway
Go approximately 2 1/2 miles through five traffic lights and
arrive at the Hobgood Park Baseball Fields on your right.
The baseball fields are just prior to the softball fields
that are at the intersection of Towne Lake Parkway and Bells
Ferry Road. If you make it to Bells Ferry Road, you have gone
approx. 1/4 mile too far.
