Registration / Sign-up Changes
Due to our continued popularity and growth, DHYS will again maintain Player Participation Caps for the Spring 2010 season. The following changes were used for Fall 2009, and will also be in effect for the Spring 2010 season.
1.Registration will now be called ‘Sign-up’ through Blue Sombrero. Signing up “first” does not guarantee a player slot. This hopefully should eliminate the rush to sign-up on the first day of registration.

2.If there are more players registered for a particular age group than our participation limits will allow, we will use a series of factors, beginning with Tenure (number of seasons played through DHYS) to determine where the participation cap line will be set for the given age group. All “Sign-ups” will receive a CONFIRMATION of PARTICIPATION via e-mail after Sunday December 20th.
Example: At the Mustang age group, a “Sign-up” participant who has played 8 seasons through DHYS will be confirmed before a participant who has played only 2 seasons through DHYS.

3.Based on the Player Participation Caps, if a player registers and does not get put on a team, they will receive a full refund with no penalties.

Changes to Policy / Procedures
The DHYS Board made organizational changes to DHYS polices and procedures that were in place this past fall season. Please read them carefully, the By-Laws are located on the DHYS web site. If you have questions you may contact any current Board member; www.dhys.org.

Refund Policy

ARTICLE 8.7 REFUND POLICY
To be removed from a DHYS program once a player is registered/signed-up for a season:
A) The Registration/Sign-up Fee is 50% non-refundable.
B) And after Player Evaluations but before the Draft, 75% of the Registration Fee is non-refundable.
C) And after the Draft, 100% of the Registration Fee is non-refundable.
Other refunds may be given on a case-by-case basis at the Board’s discretion with the exception of a flat $25 portion to be non-refundable to cover administration costs. Note – based on the Player Participation Caps, if a player registers and does not get put on a team, they will receive a full refund with no penalties


Spring Schedule Changes

Traditionally, Spring baseball games are held each weeknight and on Saturdays. Please note that games may be scheduled on Sundays as well as on Saturdays.

Spring 2010 League Fees
Over the past year, DHYS has tried to use our cash reserves to make Medlock a better place to play baseball. The County would not assist with labor or funding, so the DHYS Board decided to run a deficit of about $24K from Jan 1 to May 16 this past Spring with Field Maintenance being our biggest cost of $39K, and three new scoreboards costing more than $16k. To pay for the maintenance and scoreboards, it required liquidating our two CD's in the Spring totaling $27K. The massive flooding this fall forced us to dig deep into our reserve and spend more then $11,000 on materials, supplies, and maintenance of the field equipment. Currently, we are running the entire park close to break-even with a small cash reserve.
We are happy to say that one of our neighbors, the Druid Hills Civic Association donated $2,500 to DHYS in response to the flooding – Thank you DHCA!

As an organization we have faced an increase in the cost of uniforms, baseballs and all field preparation materials. Most of these items have increased in price anywhere from 25-40%. DHYS finds it necessary to increase the fees for Spring 2010 to continue to operate in the black. Family discounts of $15 will still be in effect.

* Shetland and Pinto will be $165 per player.
* Mustang, International & Bronco will be $195 per player
* Pony B & Colt will be $215 per player
* Pony A will be $2,000 per team

The first two DHYS Nights were very successful!. Please join all your DHYS friends and come watch the Atlanta Braves! Tickets are only $6 and proceeds will benefit the DHYS 12U Cooperstown team.

Tickets will be available during the online registration process. The date and Braves opponent will be listed on the online registration form.

When you pay for your spring registration via credit card you will be given the opportunity to purchase tickets. If you would like to order additional tickets, please see the instructions on your "Order Confirmation" email. Tickets will be distributed by your manager or team parent in April 2010.
